Wir sind Teil dieses breiten Bündnisses und rufen gemeinsam mit den Initiator:innen und Veranstalter:innen zur Demonstration und Solidaritätskund-gebung auf!

Kommt mit uns auf die Straße!

Wir laufen als Teil des Blocks “Internationale Solidarität”: Als Familien, Studierende, Migrantinnen, Klimaaktivistinnen, Antirassistinnen, Gewerkschafterinnen, Antimilitaristinnen und viele andere vereint uns Palästina als eine der dringendsten Fragen globaler Gerechtigkeit und internationaler Solidarität. Gemeinsam wollen wir die deutsche Bundesregierung dazu bewegen, ihre Komplizenschaft mit dem Genozid in Gaza zu beenden.

Join us for a powerful online gathering with the European community of Friends of Standing Together, hosted and moderated by Friends of Standing Together Belgium & Berlin, in support of the largest joint Israeli-Palestinian grassroots movement!

Standing Together have been fighting against the Genocide in Gaza, against the occupation, and for a real just peace in Israel Palestine. It requires work, time, and investment to change this reality from the ground up. Yet – in this most politically dangerous time – the movement continues to grow.

Standing Together is a 100% grassroots movement. It is accountable only to the people on the ground. That also means: it relies on support from ordinary people like you to continue its crucial work.

Meet committed activists from the Tel Aviv University Chapter of Standing Together

Hear firsthand accounts of recent acts of co-resistance, and learn about their continued struggle against the ongoing genocide in Gaza,  and about the work of European solidarity groups in local communities across France, Sweden, Belgium, and Germany.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask your questions directly. 

The event will take place in English. Automatic subtitles will be enabled in German and French.

Wir waren eingeladen von den Students for Dialogue on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict an der FU Berlin an einem Podiumsgespräch teilzunehmen. Oren Ben Zvi sprach mit Ilham Bani Odeh und Jannis Grimm darüber, wie Solidarität aus Deutschland mit der Zivilbevölkerung in Gaza heute aussehen kann? Ziel der Veranstaltung war es, die humanitäre Krise im Gazastreifen an der Universität sichtbar zu machen und offen, empathisch und respektvoll mögliche Handlungsoptionen gemeinsam zu diskutieren.

Panelist*innen

Ilham Bani Odeh (sie/ihr) ist Politikwissenschaftlerin mit Fokus auf internationale Beziehungen. Sie arbeitet beim interkulturellen Verein Transaidency e.V. im Empowerment- und Dialogprojekt SAWA, das palästinensische Perspektiven in Deutschland sichtbar macht und gesellschaftliche Teilhabe stärkt. Ilham ist Mitorganisatorin der Bildungsinitiative BiPoC+ Feminismen* und als freie politische Bildnerin aktiv.

Oren Ben Zvi (er/ihn) ist bei der internationalen Friedensorganisation Friends of Standing Together aktiv. Diese größte jüdisch-palästinensische Basisbewegung kämpft gegen die Besatzung und für Frieden, Gleichheit und soziale Gerechtigkeit zusammen. 

Jannis Grimm (er/ihn) ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Friedens- und Konfliktforschung der Freien Universität und assoziierter Wissenschaftler am Institut für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung (ipb) in Berlin. Seine Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Dynamiken politischer Gewalt und staatlicher Repression, die Bedingungen und Auswirkungen radikaler Politik und (nicht-)gewaltfreien Widerstands sowie transnationale Mobilisierungsprozesse als Reaktion auf Gewalt. 

On April 29th, the eve of Yom HaZikaron, we gathered for a live screening of the Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony in solidarity with the Israeli-Palestinian co-resistance movement.

Now in its 20th year, the ceremony—organized by Combatants for Peace and the Parents Circle – Families Forum—stands as a powerful act of unity against division and violence. Through moving testimonies from bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families, musical performances, and messages from human rights leaders, the event reminded us that even in the face of deep loss, we can choose peace, humanity, and hope.

Broadcast live from Israel and shared globally, this memorial continues to be a beacon of defiance against the belief that war is inevitable. Thank you to all who joined us to witness, remember, and stand together for a better future.

Join us as Mohammad Abuajwa, Noy Katsman, Ali Schwartz and Alaa engage in an open conversation. Moderated by Elisa Fuenzalida and accompanied with music by Meera Eilabouni.

We will explore how intergenerational trauma shapes present and future generations. How can we talk about reconciliation when justice remains unmet, and safety, dignity, and equality are not ensured for all people living on the land?

Meet our Participants

Mohammad Abuajwa is a Palestinian writer from Gaza focusing on life under the occupation and the current war. He came to Berlin five months after the Israeli genocide began to pursue a master’s in digital marketing. He is actively raising funds to support his family after their home was bombed.

Noy Katsman is a social activist from Berlin, engaged in de-colonization, peace, and queer activism. They were an activist with Standing Together in Israel. After their brother Hayim Katsman was killed on October 7, 2023, they spoke out globally against revenge and continue to work for peace and justice.

Ali Schwartz is a systemic therapist and NARM-practitioner in training, based in Leipzig. They work as a queer-feminist artist, performer, and activist, exploring embodied decolonial practices to challenge dominant narratives and reimagine care utopias.

Alaa is Palestinian, born and raised in Israel, where he worked for a decade on Israeli-Palestinian youth projects. Now based in Germany, he is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and a DJ specializing in Arabic music.

Meet our Moderator

Elisa Fuenzalida is a Peruvian activist, writer, and curator. Her work explores collective resistance, memory, and structural violence. She led The Future Was Your Body, curated the Aníbal Quijano Decolonial Chair at Reina Sofía Museum, and co-edited Arts of the Working Class until 2024.

A Conversation with Activists Amal Ghawi & Itamar Avneri from Standing Together Israel/Palestine

On December 3rd, 2024, Friends of Standing Together Berlin, Refo Moabit and Resilienzentrum Moabit in collaboration with forumZFD, New Israel Fund & Allmep (Alliance for Middle East Peace) held a special event to amplify the voices of the peace movement in Israel and Palestine. Our guests were activists Amal Ghawi and Itamar Avneri from Standing Together, the largest Jewish-Palestinian grassroots movement in Israel.

At a time when political leadership on both sides seem to lack viable solutions, it is becoming increasingly urgent to mobilize the forces of civil society. Movements like Standing Together demonstrate productive ways to work towards ending the violence and resolving the conflict.

This event aimed not only to facilitate dialogue with Jewish-Palestinian peace movements and deeper insight into the current situation, but also to reduce polarization within German society. By amplifying the voices of activists like Amal and Itamar, we seek to create space for dialogue and constructive solutions.

The activists shared their on-the-ground experiences, particularly since October 7, 2023, speaking about their challenges and hopes in this extreme crisis, and answered audience questions.

About our Guests

Amal Ghawi, 28, is a journalist with an MA in Gender Studies, reporting on the challenges faced by Palestinian citizens of Israel. She joined Standing Together after the war started last year.

Itamar Avneri, 39, is a founding member of Standing Together and a city council member in Tel Aviv and Yaffa. He has been an active advocate for Jewish-Palestinian collaboration for many years.

On May 12th, the eve of Yom HaZikaron, we gathered in Zwille for a live screening of the Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony, standing in solidarity with the Israeli-Palestinian co-resistance movement.

Sharing Our Humanity, Honoring Our Children. Stop the War.

Since October 7, 2023, the lives of all those connected to Israel and Palestine have been irrevocably changed. With tens of thousands of lives lost, families devastated, and children traumatized, the need to mourn, remember, and resist violence together is more urgent than ever.

As we do each year, we came together to call for an end to the bloodshed and demand a political solution grounded in freedom, justice, and safety for all. This year’s ceremony focused on the voices and stories of children—those whose only “crime” was being born Palestinian or Israeli. What future awaits them? How do we protect hope in a time of such sorrow?

Under the theme “Tekes Ba’Salon” (Ceremony in the Living Room), the memorial was hosted in living rooms and public spaces around the world, building community and solidarity across borders. Attendees were invited not only to witness but also to host, share, and carry forward the message of peace.
